Swartwildebees trail The Swartwildebees trail is situated just behind the Van Reenen pass to the south and the first of us arrived late the Friday afternoon with the rest arriving late at night. After a braai the "mossies" moved in and left us bit of sleep for the whole night!

Swartwildebees trail Next morning after breakfast we headed up a little valley,

Swartwildebees trail and then along an escarpment. The views were really good from the top here!

Swartwildebees trail For lunch we stopped at a small stream. Not much water flowed here.

Swartwildebees trail After a bit of sweating up a fairly long hill and a few more kilometers we finally saw our hut in the distance. It was quite well equipped and even had a "donkey" for hot water.

Swartwildebees trail The afternoon was spent relaxing. Peter entertained us with some of his "magic" tricks and later on in the evening we had a few card games before eventually relaxing next to a nice fire.

The next day was only a day hike so everyone carried the bare minimum except Alta and Leon who were training for Naukluft later on in the year and carried a full backpack!  Others ended up in a little stream with their boots.
