27 November 2004 to 28 November 2004
Every year our hiking club holds a nice Christmas party and this year it was held on a
game lodge about 16km outside Nylstroom with the name of Kuthaba. Usually we have a theme
that we dress to (something like a fancy dress party). Anyway this year it was the
"The wild West"...and wild it was!! The place has about half a dozen tented thatched
cabins, one of which we had, as well as ordinary cabins, and a nice entertainment area.
We arrived at about 7:30 on Friday evening which was much later than usual as Silvia
could only leave work at 4:30. However, there was still plenty of time for a braai and
socializing.
Next morning most of the people went on a guided hike but Silvia and myself decided to skip
it this time as we wanted to catch up on some desperately needed sleep. The weather was great
when we got up so we spent the day next to the pool with a few of the others that were too
lazy to hike. Here's "Fishbone" enjoying the easy life with a waffle and cream..compliments
of "her majasty"..our beloved queen!
Lazing the day away with some of Tims "radio active" juice. Our mutation would take place later
on that day!
At about six that evening the first of us started to arrive. The "Lone Ranger" and..and..and..
WHO IS THAT?...ah..yes Silvia!! Right..now off to the Saloon.
Here's another cowboy that seems to have bet his pants on the last poker game and lost! At least
he managed to hold onto his better half! Welcome to Jorge and Isabel!
Chas makes here entrance and looks dangerous!
Verna doing the Wild West without a horse. At least you get to meet more people that way.
Welcome Tim!
At this stage the mega steaks where sizzling.
Our local talent showing us how its done!
Signor Joe and Yvonne make their entrance!
Some of the local talent all together!
The cowboys showing off their stuff!
The Indians were kind enough to send one of their Squaws to the party. Welcome to Joan!
Lets not forget the kids..Patrick!
The Latin influence is definitly there!
After Tim handed out the awards (of which we earned one for fumigating every base camp we get too
on our hikes with our garlic snails, which has now become a club tradition!), the party started in
earnest!
Silvia getting into the swing of things.
Now whats this....?!! I think the whole thing ended at about 3 on Sunday morning...so they tell me!
