Korannaberg Trail We got to Korannaberg just after sunset as its quite a drive from Johannesburg.

Korannaberg Trail The last 30km are gravel road but the scenery is really good. The hut was very nice with a kitchen and hot showers. It contained three separate rooms which could and did house three different groups. Silvia and myself were the first to arrive followed by Tim, Aileen and Rob.

Korannaberg Trail The second kitchen with ablution facilities.

Korannaberg Trail The first stretch of the hike takes one over flat grassland

Korannaberg Trail before turning up into a valley.

Korannaberg Trail A lot of boulder hopping was required in the valley

Korannaberg Trail but finally we made it to the top!

Korannaberg Trail Another stretch of grassland followed

Korannaberg Trail until we got to a very nice rock overhang were we had lunch.

Korannaberg Trail The second half of the day was certainly very long with some steep climbing

Korannaberg Trail before in the far distance we could vaguely discern the rock overhang that was to be our "hut" for the night. The rock overhang was closed on all sides so Rob, Silvia and myself decided to sleep outside. Water was about 200m away in the form of a little stream so the "wash" was verrry cold!

Korannaberg Trail There were virtually no tables available so we had dinner in the veld with some "steaks" looking on!

Korannaberg Trail A beautiful sunrise next morning.

Korannaberg Trail After breakfast we tackled the last 10km

Korannaberg Trail Some spectacular views

Korannaberg Trail A great "Jacuzzi"!

Korannaberg Trail Some parts got a bit slippery.

Korannaberg Trail At last far down in the valley we could see our base camp again! Another great hike!
