23 February 2008 to 24 February 2006
This weekend we decide to go backpacking again and do our old favorite trail at Kaapsehoop. As usual we were the
first to arrive with Petro and Kerneels getting there latter.
For those that have never been there, the overnight accommodation consists of two railway coaches that act as a
base camp and you bunk down in one of the compartments.
Next morning we where on the trail nice and early as it was going to be a very hot day.
Our first break after exiting the indigenous forest.
Although it was the wrong time of year for the Aloes to bloom, there was a lot of other flowers around.
The trail contours around the edges most of the first day.
The long stretch up to the waterfall lunch spot.
The waterfall makes a good spot for a break and to refill the water bottles.
A stretch through some forest follows.
Not far from the overnight hut one passes through an area of some very high tree ferns.
Always a very welcome sight....the Wattles hut!
Next day we where on the trail early again. The second day is not as long as the first.
The final stretch takes one back through the original indigenous forest.
