After many months of lessons and practice on the driving range we finally ended up playing our first 18 holes of golf at the Kemptonpark Country Club. To join us was Schalk Engelbrecht, who Silvia had gotten to know years earlier from the Siemens training institute but who has also in the meantime moved onto greener pastures. Amongst his many skills is the fact that he is also a golf professional. That suited us very well to have someone along to show us the finer details of the game.

The Kemptonpark Country Club is a very pleasant club situated almost in the heart of Kemptonpark and as Schalk knew the club well he organized our first golf day there.

Well, it was not long before we all ended up in somewhat difficult situations...Schalk included!

Here is Silvia trying to get her ball out of a bunker. I must say, for Silvia and myself the going was tough, but despite all of this Schalk patiently helped us along.

Well, we finally got through the whole thing and I ended up with a par on the last hole and Silvia with a Bogey. Let me be quite honest from my side, I think I'll stick to hiking!
