Another great weekend hiking! Our annual pilgrimage to Bald Ibis turned out particularly nice. The area had
had quite some rain in the last few months and was looking very lush and green. On top of it all the whole
area was covered in wild flowers. The Friday afternoon left us wondering how the weather was going to be as
the whole area was covered in thick mist, but the weekend turned out beautifully.
The usual stiff climb right in the beginning to get the heart pumping.
A rest at the cave just before "Windy Corner".
Lush green grass and beautiful scenery.
Over the rocks at "Poachers cave".
The trail was very overgrown and had not been maintained in a long time. Every so often we lost the trail
completely and had to find our own way through the vegetation.
Some interesting holes in the rocks.
The sky was so clear that you could see the Drakensberg in the distance.
Into one of the indigenous forests. The last one has some Stinging Nettles in it, and as usual I got nailed
again.
Some curios young bulls along the way.
The overnight cave has no wood, so you have to collect your own at the Wattles forest before the last climb.
And what a climb it was with the extra weight! Anyway...it was good practice for Amatola!
The result of our hard work...
Next morning was another beautiful day with great weather.
The second days trail is much easier than the first day and runs lower down.
Last break before reaching base camp again.
