02 December 2006 to 03 December 2006
This was the second time that we had done the Bald Ibis trail, and I must say we really enjoyed it again. This time
it was only four of us so at least we all had plenty of space in the hut and cave.
Our old tradition of Garlic snails on a Friday evening from the Footprint club days was carried forward to our
private hikes now.
During the night we had a terrific hail and rain storm, but by early morning the weather was great again.
A steep climb around the back of the rock takes you up to the cliff face. The views are really spectacular!
After getting to the other side of the rock the trail takes you down again a bit.
This called for a stop here to admire the beautiful views.
Some stretches through indigenes forest follow.
In places the trail is quite overgrown and we had to search for it. Also in some places we found stinging Nettles
which burn like hell!
Along the way you get to an old San cave.
Some of the rock paintings still existing in the cave.
Some of the views out the back section.
The rocks in the back look like something out of the movie from "The lord of the rings"
Eventually we made it to the cave...... Here is looking back.
We had come afar to seek the advice of the great Guru who was deep in meditation when we arrived.
Oh...great one....what are the next winning Lotto numbers...we asked. After much thought the great one replied
....*#$@^*~&!!!!
We have not been able to quite decipher those numbers.....
This place does strange things to one!
Next morning the weather was clear when we left.
A final rest before doing the last piece. Bald Ibis had been a very enjoyable weekend for us again and is well worth
doing.
